Tennis at Wimbledon & Players Do Not Have to Wear White
A Splash Of Color. The All England Club - home of Wimbledon - will look different during the 2012 Summer Olympics. Not only will there be a a flood of purple on the grounds, the color of London 2012’s branding, but players will not be required to wear white. Instead, competitors are encouraged to wear their home country’s colors and uniforms. Roger Federer described the feeling of wearing something other than the long-time tradition:
“I feel a bit funny, you know, playing with a red shirt, maybe, out at Wimbledon where normally it should be all white. But I don’t dislike it. I think it’s a nice opportunity to, you know, represent your country with colors and get into that whole spirit.”
The tennis competition starts Saturday, July 28th and concludes Sunday, August 5th. [image]
